Introduction:

 

Magnesium rod is the common name of magnesium anode, also known as anode magnesium rod, which is used to prevent corrosion of metal liner and soften water heater water quality. That is, the magnesium rod is used as the anode, the metal lining is the cathode, and the water in the inner tank is used as the dielectric to form a primary battery.

 

Water heaters usually use titanium steel or manganese steel metal liner, and then coat the inner surface of the metal with enamel. When the enamel coating on the inner surface of the metal is intact, the insulation performance between the magnesium rod and the metal liner is good, reaching the insulation resistance, that is, more than 3M ohms. However, when the enamel liner partially cracks, a resistance is formed between the magnesium anode and the metal liner through water, the magnesium negative electrode starts to output current, and a polarizing film is produced on the exposed metal liner to repair the damaged enamel and metal.

When the weight is reduced to one-third of the original weight, the magnesium rod should be replaced. Magnesium rods can generally be used for about a year. They are wearable parts and have no effect on the use of the electric water heater, but regular maintenance of the electric water heater is also a must.
