Introduction:
Because magnesium alloys have high chemical activity, strong self-corrosion, and no dense protective film will be formed on the surface, the current efficiency of magnesium anodes is much lower than that of aluminum and zinc anodes, usually around 50%. The outstanding advantages of magnesium anode materials lie in low density, large theoretical capacitance, negative potential, low polarizability, and high driving voltage (>0.6 V) for steel. Common pure magnesium anodes (purity greater than 99.95%) have been phased out due to their low current efficiency (only around 30%). The addition of impurity elements will greatly reduce the corrosion resistance of magnesium alloys. Among them, Fe, Ni, Cu and other elements reduce the corrosion resistance of the alloys more seriously. Therefore, reducing the impurity elements is the first choice for improving its performance. However, the smelting of high-purity magnesium is difficult, so alloying methods are often used in engineering to prepare high-performance magnesium anode materials.
