Introduction:
Sacrificial magnesium anodes balance aggressive water action and provide cathodic protection for the tank. The anode rod is a very important factor affecting the life of the fuel tank and should only be removed for inspection or draining. When the consumed weight loss is greater than 75%, it is recommended to replace the anode rod. Tank life can be greatly extended by regular inspection and replacement of anode rods. The frequency of anode replacement will vary based on water conditions and usage.
