Application:
The original application of wrought magnesium alloys was in the military aviation industry. Since 1934, Germany has used many magnesium alloy parts in aircraft. During World War II, the United States used 5555kg magnesium alloy plates, 700kg magnesium alloy forgings and 300kg magnesium alloy castings on the world's largest bomber B-36 (total weight 162727kg) designed and produced at that time. After World War II, DOW Chemical Company moved the world's largest extruder (14,000t) manufactured in Germany for the magnesium industry to the United States and installed it on its magnesium alloy deformed product production line. During the 1950s, DOW Chemical Company produced a large number of magnesium alloy sheets for the aerospace and rocket industries.
